Tags: goog-411The 411 on GOOG-411 in Canada![]() GOOG-411, the information service offered by Google in the U.S. has finally made its way to Canadian shores… officially. The free GOOG-411 service works much like traditional 411 service; call to find local businesses, emergency numbers and just about anything other info 411 can provide, but without the 411 fees. Granted, the number isn’t quite so easy to remember (1-800-4664-411, 1-800-GOOG-411) and it won’t likely slip in to the common vernacular as the venerable 411 has. That said, the GOOG-411 team says the service has been localized to the Canadian public. A posting on the Google Mobile blog uses the announcement to poke some (what we can only assume is) good natured fun: “We incorporated some Canadianisms such as “eh,” “Traw-na,” “Cal-gry,” and, of course, “aboot,"” stating that they also took into account geographical differences. Where users in the US are prompted for “city and state,” Canadians are asked for “city and province.” It’s a start, right? Check out the GOOG-411 page for more details on what GOOG-411 can do.
